Google security researchers have discovered and blocked a new form of spyware called Lipizzan that targets Android devices to spy on communications, such as email and calls, as well as steal information on contacts, record audio/video and monitor the target user’s location.
A small percentage or 100 devices were found infected, but experts suggest the malware may have targeted specific individuals.
Lipizzan was disguised as basic backup or cleaner apps, 20 in total, distributed through different channels to include Google Play Store, ZDNet reports.
