Security researchers have disclosed multiple Bluetooth vulnerabilities that could threaten billions of smartphones from Android and Apple and millions of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, such as smart TVs, printers and others that may use the Bluetooth wireless protocol.Â
According to researchers from IoT security firm Armis, the attack vector is dubbed “BlueBorne”, where attacks can jump from one Bluetooth device to another wirelessly.
Threatpost reports there are an estimated 5.3 billion devices affected.
The disclosure was coordinated with vendors to include Google (released patches to customers), Microsoft (patch released today) and Apple (latest versions of 10.x are safe).
