Microsoft issued January 2018 Security Updates that includes patches to fix 16 critical bugs in Microsoft products Office, Word and SharePoint.
Nearly 56 vulnerabilities in all were fixed to include over 20 that could lead to remote execution. This month has already been a busy month of patching, thanks to the disclosure of Meltdown and Spectre bugs.
Microsoft previously issued emergency patches last week for Microsoft products, to include Internet Explorer and Edge, to mitigate impact of the speculative execution side-channel Spectre/Meltdown vulnerabilities (CVE-2017-5753, CVE-2017-5715, and CVE-2017-5754).
Prior to deploying patches, administrators and users are encouraged to apply firmware updates and ensure anti-virus software is compatible with Windows patches.
The company published a “one-stop-shop” security advisory here.Â
