Chrome OS 75 update

Google has released Chrome OS 75 stable channel update that includes a number of features, bug fixes and security updates.

The latest version Chrome OS 75.0.3770.102 (Platform version: 12105.75.0) is available for most Chrome OS devices.

Google added the following feature enhancements to Chrome OS 75:

  • Enabled Assistant for Google Account Managed with Family Link (under the applicable age in their country).
  • Linux (Beta) can now access Android devices over USB.
  • Added Files app support for 3rd party file provider apps implementing Android DocumentsProvider APIs.
  • Added support for PIN code with native printers for managed devices.

In addition, Google addressed multiple Microarchitectural Data Sampling (MDS) vulnerabilities on Chrome OS: CVE-2018-12126, CVE-2018-12127, CVE-2018-12130 and CVE-2019-11091.

Google said that an attacker could exploit this group of MDS vulnerabilities to read sensitive data.

“If Chrome processes are attacked, these sensitive data could include website contents as well as passwords, credit card numbers, or cookies. The vulnerabilities can also be exploited to read host memory from inside a virtual machine, or for an Android App to read privileged process memory (e.g. keymaster),” Google added.
