Microsoft issued the March 2019 Security Updates that include 65 unique vulnerability fixes, 18 of them rated critical.
The updates address multiple Microsoft products to include, but not limited to: Windows, Edge, Office, Office Services and Web Apps, ChakraCore, NuGet, Team Foundation Server, Skype for Business and Visual Studio.
Of the critical updates, 16 address remote code execution (RCE) bugs and two fix privilege escalation bugs.
One of the critical RCE vulnerabilities CVE-2019-0592 exists in the way the Chakra scripting engine handles objects in memory in Microsoft Edge. Microsoft warned exploitation of this vulnerability is more likely.
“The vulnerability could corrupt memory in such a way that an attacker could execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user,” Microsoft stated in the advisory.
Another critical update addresses privilege elevation vulnerability CVE-2018-8654 in Microsoft Dynamics 365 on-premise version 8.
Additional RCE vulnerabilities were fixed in Windows DHCP Client and Windows Deployment Services TFTP Server.
