T-Mobile disclosed a data breach that impacts a small number of customers of its prepaid service.
T-Mobile confirmed the data breach on Friday that exposed prepaid customer names, billing addresses, phone numbers, account numbers and Rate plan information. However, the company confirmed no SSN or payment card information was stolen.
“Our Cybersecurity team discovered and shut down malicious, unauthorized access to some information related to your T-Mobile prepaid wireless account. We promptly reported this to authorities. None of your financial data (including credit card information) or social security numbers was involved, and no passwords were compromised,” T-Mobile stated in the customer announcement.
T-Mobile also said all affected current customers have been notified or will be notified shortly. In mean time, the company recommends you confirm or update your personal identification number (PIN/passcode) on your T-Mobile account as additional data protection.
