Apple has released security updates for macOS Big Sur 11.2.1, macOS Catalina and macOS Mojave to address multiple vulnerabilities.
An attacker could exploit some of these vulnerabilities to take control of affected devices.
macOS updates
Apple released macOS Big Sur 11.2.1, Security Update 2021-001 Catalina, Security Update 2021-001 Mojave on February 9 that addresses three vulnerabilities.
Two of the issues impact Intel Graphics Driver (CVE-2021-1805 and CVE-2021-1806). In each case, Apple warned that an application could potentially execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.
The third issue is related to a sudo vulnerability CVE-2021-3156 that could allow a local attacker to elevate their privileges, even without authentication.
Readers may recall other vendors also released patches for Sudo, an open-source utility used on Linux and Unix-like operating systems. Sudo allows users to run programs with the security privileges of another user or account.
