Buckle store data breach linked to POS malware

The Buckle Inc. released a statement on Friday night that malware was discovered on certain Buckle retail store location point-of-sale (POS) systems.

The POS malware was designed to steal payment card data from cards used in Buckle store POS systems.

According to the company statement, payments made in stores between October 28, 2016 and April 14, 2017 may have been affected.

Brian Krebs reported that the disclosure came just hours after KrebsOnSecurity contacted the company after receiving tips from financial sources about a possible breach based on pattern of fraud on payment card activity.
