The Mozilla Foundation has released Firefox 75 with multiple new features that can help you ‘search smarter and faster’. In addition, the latest update also addresses six security vulnerabilities.
In the latest release of Firefox 75, Mozilla has added a number of good browser search features as part of their revamped address bar for instance:
- “Focused, clean search experience” optimized for laptops with smaller screens.
- Top sites now appear when you select the address.
- Improved readability of search suggestions with a focus on new search terms.
- Suggestions include solutions to common Firefox issues.
In addition, Firefox 75 also includes similar search improvements for Linux platforms to be more commensurate with desktop platforms.
Security updates
As part of Mozilla Foundation Security Advisory 2020-12, Firefox 75 also addresses six vulnerabilities to include three high severity and three moderate vulnerabilities.
The high severity bugs addressed include:
- CVE-2020-6821: Uninitialized memory could be read when using the WebGL copyTexSubImage method
- CVE-2020-6825: Memory safety bugs fixed in Firefox 75 and Firefox ESR 68.7
- CVE-2020-6826: Memory safety bugs fixed in Firefox 75.
Mozilla noted that the memory safety bugs could be exploited to run arbitrary code.
